As the 21st edition of Contemporary Istanbul brings art lovers to the city from 23 to 27 September, Çırağan Palace Kempinski on the shores of the Bosphorus has positioned itself as the fair’s quietest base. Describing itself as “the definitive address for discerning collectors,” the hotel places its walking-distance proximity to Tersane Istanbul and the Istanbul Congress Center at the centre of this year’s programme.
Bringing together the splendour of an Ottoman palace with the fair’s international tempo, the hotel offers imperial suites and Bosphorus-view rooms alongside a concierge service spanning everything from fair logistics to private transfers. A programme running from gallery tours in Beyoğlu and Nişantaşı to Ottoman heritage excursions, and from Bosphorus cruises to artist talks, extends beyond the palace walls into the city’s art route.
In the hotel’s own words, the fair turns the Golden Horn into “a hub where the pulse of international creativity beats”; the event, growing with the participation of hundreds of international galleries, continues with VIP collector previews and live artist talks. Amid this momentum, Çırağan offers a quiet point of rest, balancing the pace of art with the timelessness of the palace.
