The Porsche 99X Electric, which delivered Pascal Wehrlein back-to-back Formula E world titles, has retired from racing to join the permanent collection of the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen. The most successful single-seater of the Gen3 Evo technical class, this chassis carries six of the ten possible Formula E world championships the brand has won — a summary not of one season, but of an entire era.
The car’s arrival at the museum carried its own symbolic gesture: the 99X Electric was towed from the track to the museum by a Cayenne Turbo Electric — a quiet ceremony recalling how knowledge gathered on the racetrack flows into road cars. The chassis now greets visitors as part of the brand’s 75-year motorsport history in the special exhibition “Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport,” running until 17 January 2027.
Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, describes the car as “one of the boldest and most technologically advanced cars Porsche has ever built.” The brand had already sealed the season with a double crown, securing the manufacturers’ title at the penultimate race in Tokyo; now the physical trace of that achievement lives on in the museum’s silence, an understated monument to engineering elegance.
