Porsche managed a first in the automotive industry: the galium nitride (GaN) introduced the first high performance sound system ready to mass production using semiconductor technology. The technology developed in the joint project called ‘Driven by GaN’ with Stuttgart University will enter mass production in the next generation Porsche models in 2027; multiple patent applications were made.
GaN semiconductors are topped the voltage conversion of 400 watt subwoofers in Burmester® 3D High-End Surround Sound System, which minimizes the refrigerant weight around 20 percent, less heat production allows smaller capacitors and inductors to use, hence lower energy loss. The use of decreasing aluminum in the production of chiller contributes to carbon footprint.
Steffen Burosch from Porsche Weissach Development Center is a strong bass foundation, part of the emotional experience that our customers expect from a Porsche; we can further develop this experience with GaN. Dr. Lars Heuken from the Strategic Semiconductor Management marked the future of technology with the words of ‘pot essential tremendous — and this more start’ — a noiseless engineering grace.
