Craft x Tech Tokai Projesi, V&A South Kensington

One of the most quiet yet deepest meetings in this year of London Design Festival, V&A South Kensington’s Medieval and Renaissance gallery -Daylit Gallery takes place in Room 64b. The second edition of Craft x Tech Bucklei Project matches the craftsmen in Japan’s Buckle area with designers from around the world; designer and engineer Dr. Hida Yoshimoto (Tangent studio) was founded, the project, which was awarded the curator of Italian curator Maria Cristina Didero, can be visited for free from 12-30 September.

There are six parts in the exhibition: The console and lighting series ‘Fushi’ designed together with Yohei Ito with Australia David Caon; Takanori Senda with Lanzavecchia+Wai signed textile work ‘Grid Unwoven’; the joint work of the British designer Bethan Laura Wood with Hiroyuki Murase is ‘Kataginu’; Shigeyuki Ando with British-Canada Philippe Malouin’; Mayuki Kato and Eugene Dolomi (Kasane’, the traditional designer of Kanloshi (Yashii). Lake, metal, wood, ceramic, washi paper and textile – sub-gold different craft discipline- is mixed together in six parts.

The project proposes a meeting where technology does not leave behind the craft, giving a new syntax to the full reverse century techniques. The main thing for Craft x Tech Buckle Project is not speed; the patience of the master can sit on the same table with the curiosity of contemporary design.
