The World’s 50 Best Restaurants organisation revealed its extended 51-100 list for 2026 on 21 October, with the full top-50 ranking to be announced for the first time at a gala ceremony in Lima, Peru, on 4 November. Representing 36 cities across six continents, the list is compiled from the votes of more than 1,100 international restaurant experts — chefs, food writers and critics.
Istanbul’s Neolokal, led by chef Maksut Aşkar, placed 94th on the list. The restaurant is known for reinterpreting near-forgotten Anatolian techniques and ingredients through a contemporary lens — a detail that once again affirms Turkish gastronomy’s standing on the world stage.
On the extended 51-100 list, Europe was the most represented region with 20 restaurants, followed by Asia with 17, North America with 6, South America with 3, and Africa and the Middle East with two each. Italy’s Uliassi was Europe’s highest-ranked entry at 51st, while London’s The Ledbury returned to the list for the first time since 2019; nine restaurants appeared on the list for the first time.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has been regarded as one of gastronomy’s most influential award organisations since 2002. This year’s Lima ceremony, where the top 50 will be unveiled, marks the first time the event is held in South America — a sign of the list’s expanding geographic reach.
